Shanghai | Ten Walking Routes with Particularly Good Scenery

It's getting cooler and autumn is coming, it's a good idea to take a leisure walk after dinner. We would like to recommend several scenic walking routes, each of which has a story worth exploring. Enjoy the scenery and exercise which you cannot have in gym.

Route 1: The Bund Historical Road
Starting Point: Garden Bridge
Ending Point: Shiliupu Dock
Walking route: Garden bridge - Chenyi Square - the Bund Binjiang - Financal Square - Shiliupu Dock - Old Dock Greative Park
 
On this road, you could look through the past and the present of Shanghai at a glance. Starting from the Garden Bridge with full of old Shanghai flavor, the right side of architectures from all nations represent the past of Shanghai, the left side of modern Lujiazui and the ships on Huangpu River represent the present and future of Shanghai. This route gives you a sense of time-travel. And all the way forward, when you arrive at the Shiliupu Dock, you will find another rebirth story of old landmark.

Route 2: Stroll West Bund Art Corridor
Starting Point: Ruining Road
Ending Point:：West Bund Art Center
Route: Xuhui Binjiang Planning Exhibition Center - Ruining road - Dragon Avenue Binjiang line - Longyao Binjiang square - West Art Center

This is a route of about 4 kilometers in length, and jogging or walking along the Huangpu River is a pleasant thing to do in Binjiang. The whole route starts from the Binjiang Planning Exhibition Center in Xuhui, and passes through the Dragon Art Museum and extends to Longteng Avenue. At night, the lights bright on both sides of Pujiang, many people living in the surrounding areas take a walk along it..

Route 3: Walk Back to the Colleage Time
Starting Point: Daxue Road
Ending Point: Fudan University
Route: Daxue Road - Guoding Road - Fudan University
This route is located in the famous University area of Shanghai, although it is quite short, it has different literary and artistic atmosphere. Jogging along the Daxue Road, you may hear the wafting melodious music from stores or restaurants from time to time. Across the Guoding Road you will reach at Fudan University. Jogging inside the University with the smell of summer grass, as if back to school-days.

Route 4: A Graceful and Romantic path
Starting Point: Xujiahui Park
Ending Point: Fuxing Park
Route: Xujiahui Park - Hengshan Road - Dongping road - Taojiang road - Fenyang Road - Donghu road - Xinle road - Xiangyang road - Huaihai Road -Maoming Road - Nanchang road - Ruijin Er road -  Xiangshan Road - Sinan road - Nanchang road - Yandang Road - Fuxing Park

Here, adventurers had woven a glamorous dream, patriots and literati had deduced ups and downs of their lifes. Just a turn back of the high building, you can read a completely different romantic story. The Ailu (Love House) along Dongping Road, the villa under the shade of Xiangshan Road...... these old houses with black and white hue seem to get you back suddenly to the old days in old movies.

Route 5: Stoll along Suzhou River
Starting Point: Huangpu Park
Ending Point: Huangpu Park
Rpute: Huangpu Park - South Suzhou Road- Yuanmingyuan road - East Beijing    - Road - Huqiu road - Hongkong road - Middle Jiangxi road - South Suzhou road - Bridge of North Chengdu Road - Guangfu Road - North Suzhou road - Garden Bridge - Huangpu Park

The Suzhou river has been called the mother river of Shanghai. The beautiful buildings in the source of the Bund is the mark of concession period mark; the bridges acrossing the Suzhou River represent the development traces of both sides; the old warehouse on both sides of the river is the start of Shanghai industry; and the light from Richards Hotel is telling the voluptuous life of those years. In this season, cool breeze blowing gently, the mother river flows under our feet, What we see is the history river of Shanghai.

Route 6: To Find the Traditional Flavor
Starting Point: Fashion Mall Center of Xintiandi
Ending Point: ASE Center

Shanghai is always a city for nostalgia. Shanghai's food, Shanghai's brand, as long as they're classic enough, you could still find, eat and buy them. Fresh meat moon cake, cream cube cake, yellow croaker noodle and fried pork chop...... If you want to eat, just grab it!

Route 7: Reading Eileen Chang
Starting Point: Jiangsu Road Subway Station
Ending Point: JiangAn Temple
Route: Jiangsu Road subway station - West Wuding road - Wanhangdu Road - Zhenning road - West Yan'an Road - Shanghai Theater Academy - Huashan road - Urumqi road - Yanan road - Maoming road - Nanjing West Road - Jingan Temple

Eileen Chang was born in Shanghai and grew up in Shanghai. Her literary career started in Shanghai. Her film creation started in Shanghai and her first love started and ended in Shanghai. With the pace of your feet, you can better appreciate her writing, and her love story takes place along this route.

Route 9: Ramble on old Shanghai Story
Starting Point: Duolun Road Cultural Celebrities Street
Ending Point: 1933 
Route: Duolun Road Cultural Celebrities street North - North Sichuan Road - Tian'ai road - Shanyin road - Liyang road - Siping Road - 1933

Shanghai has such a mini trip, take you going through time and space, and feel the old Shanghai customs, and also let you find the deep secret in the history of Shanghai. This route is in Hongkou District, from Duolun Road cultural celebrity street,  Qianai Lane, Lu Xun library, 1933 old venues, and many other cultural attractions into series.

Route 10: live with literature and art
Starting Point: Wukang Building
Ending Point: Anfu Road
Route: Wukang building - Wukang road - Anfu Road

This is the most literary and artistic route, but it is also full of vitality. Less vehicles on Wukang Road, so does at night. Starting from the Wukang building, pass by the former residence of Huang Xing, Wukang Yard, Ba Jin's former residence, arrive at Anfu Road, you will find more restaurants and small shops, and more people walk the dog. In addition to taking a walk, strolling around the fashionable shop and the imported supermarket, the hot and humid mood scatters away.

Shanghai becomes international talents' favorite city

Shanghai is the most favorite Chinese city for international talents, followed by Beijing, South China's Guangdong Province and East China's Jiangsu Province, according to a report on regional international talent competitiveness released on Monday. A comprehensive evaluation system was used to value a region's competitiveness of international talents in six dimensions – scale and structure of international talents, as well as innovation, policy, development and living environments. The report was conducted and released by the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics' Institute of Development Studies. "With rapid economic globalization, China has become international talents' new choice for long-term development and relocation and regional competition for international talents has begun," Wang Huiyao, president of CCG, said.
